ABOUT

DISCOVER
It is by traveling around the world that Gotiez learned to capture the softness of time and the strength of emotions. Painting quickly became a unique way to restore and perpetuate the authenticity and generosity distilled throughout his many encounters. Each painting is an invitation to a journey where the viewer is confronted with the delicacy of the moment and the intensity of memories.

REINVENT
From the beginning, Gotiez has managed to capture the essence of the material, merging cultural influences with daring modernity. This ability to transcend geographical and stylistic boundaries is a testament to his capacity for reinvention. Throughout his journey, he will successively or simultaneously explore the techniques of working with earth, wood, paper, and ink.

BLOOM
His creative process is a never-ending struggle between the work and the artist. The painting is built and deconstructed, layer by layer, to achieve a harmonious explosion of colors where the medium plays a crucial role. He manages the color palettes and lets them define their interactions. He defines this letting go as the true essence of his art.
BE AUTHENTIC
Gotiez masters the art of creating happy accidents, guiding the material while being guided by it. These moments where the unexpected becomes beauty reinforce this impression of authenticity and sincerity in his work. He consciously opposes the quest for perfection, instead affirming the acceptance of imperfection as a source of beauty and authenticity.

GET INSPIRED
The "Scrape" series, which he is currently presenting, is inspired both by French Affichistes of the 1950s and the vibrant colors of the plant world. The Affichistes involved reclaiming torn posters from urban spaces and transforming them into artworks, highlighting the traces of time and the involuntary intervention of passersby.
With the difference that Gotiez initiates the entire process, from creation to degradation.
The paintings have a particular charm, a raw aesthetic that tells a story through their tatters. They bear witness to the passage of time through the successive layers pasted on top of each other.

The "Tribal Maps" series, on the other hand, plunges us directly into the heart of travel. It refers to the maps that tribes drew in the sand to define their hunting territories. His approach is raw, borrowing certain attributes of calligraphy but where the perfect gesture has given way to a bumpy line representing half-circles, signs of infinity and hope.

Although different, these two series, initiated more than seven years ago, complement and strengthen each other while embodying the same values.

PARTNER
In the beginning, Gotiez quickly attracted the attention of designers and interior architects with his works inspired by the tribal world. These collaborations marked the beginning of an uninterrupted journey in contemporary art for over 20 years. Represented by the Sablon d'Art gallery in Brussels for ten years, Gotiez does not just create; he is also actively involved in organizing exhibitions. This continued presence in the historical heart of Brussels has allowed him to find himself in collections all over the world.
